At Danziger High School in Kiryat Shmona, we joined the Act2gether Child rights & Well-Being project because we wanted to take action, not just talk about it. Being part of this project means we get to dream big, work together, and lead initiatives that make our community a place where young people feel safe, connected, and proud to belong.

Who We Are

We’re 11th grade students with big ideas and the determination to make them happen. From the very start, we brought energy, creativity, and commitment to this project. Through Act2gether, we’ve gained the tools, space, and support to turn our ideas into action and to see ourselves as real agents of change.

Our Project: Light Up the City

Kiryat Shmona is home to incredible young people, but with most entertainment and youth spaces still closed, too many spend their evenings in the streets or parks, exposed to risks.

Our answer?

A recurring Youth Night Market, every Thursday (weekly or biweekly), with:

  • A safe, social space

  • Music, food stands, and a buzzing atmosphere

  • A place for young people to gather, connect, and feel seen

Our goal is simple: we want Kiryat Shmona’s youth to feel they belong, that they matter, and that their city can be a place of joy, expression, and healing.

The Rights We’re Focusing On

  • Article 31 (The Right to Rest, Leisure, and Participation in Cultural Life) – Every child has the right to rest and leisure, to engage in play and recreational activities appropriate to their age, and to participate freely in cultural and artistic life.

  • Article 19 (Protection from All Forms of Violence) – Children have the right to be protected from physical and emotional violence, abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

  • Article 33 (Protection from Drug Abuse) – Governments must take all necessary steps to protect children from illegal drugs and from involvement in their production or trafficking.

For us, this isn’t just about events,  it’s about building a safe, vibrant community led by youth, for youth.
