November 20 – A reminder that every child has rights

In 1989, the UN adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child an international agreement that defines the rights every child in the world is entitled to: the right to safety, the right to education, the right to play, the right to express an opinion, the right to health, and the right to be heard. Children’s Rights Day is an opportunity for conversation, connection, and shared action among children, parents, educators, and the community.

Why mark this day?

• To remind us that children have a voice, an opinion, and the ability to influence.

• To encourage thinking about equality, mutual respect, and listening.

• To create shared experiences that strengthen social responsibility and solidarity.
