Education for Life (EFL), in partnership with the National Student and Youth Council and the Ministry of Education’s Society and Youth Administration, is launching The Well-Being Lab – a nationwide initiative inviting young people and educators to turn their ideas into practical projects that strengthen well-being in schools and communities. Selected initiatives will receive grants of up to NIS 10,000 and professional support.
How can we create schools where every student feels valued and connected? How can we strengthen relationships, build supportive communities, and empower young people to shape the environments in which they live?
The Well-Being Lab was created to turn these questions into action. The initiative invites students, student and youth councils, youth leadership groups, and educators to identify local needs and develop creative solutions that foster belonging, resilience, meaningful relationships, active participation, and partnerships between young people and adults.
The Lab is grounded in the Learning for Well-Being (L4WB) approach, which understands well-being as the process of realising each person’s unique potential through personal development, meaningful relationships, and engagement with their environment. The approach emphasises listening, empathy, recognising individual strengths and differences, and creating opportunities for shared growth and meaningful participation.
From Ideas to Action – With Support Along the Way
Through an open call for proposals, selected youth-led and educator-led initiatives will receive grants ranging from NIS 1,500 to NIS 10,000, alongside introductory training, professional guidance, and practical tools to develop and implement their projects.
The selection process will take place in two stages: district committees will review applications, followed by a joint national committee that will select the initiatives to receive support. Selected projects will integrate principles and practices from the Learning for Well-Being framework and participate in a learning and impact evaluation process.
At the heart of the Lab is the recognition that young people are not simply participants in educational activities, but capable partners and leaders of change, with the knowledge, creativity, and motivation to shape their communities.
